Program Description

Transfusion Medicine 101, provides an introduction to transfusion medicine for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, blood bank personnel and others interested in transfusion medicine. In this program, the clinical conditions and associated laboratory parameters under which transfusion therapy is indicated in patients will be discussed. The various blood components and current strategies and therapeutic alternatives or adjuncts to transfusion therapy will also be covered.

Methods and Format

This is an online activity consisting of audio, presentation slides, post-test, and an evaluation tool. Participant must view the entire presentation, take the activity post-test, and complete the course evaluation to receive continuing education credit. A minimum score of 70% is required on the test for credit to be awarded, and participants may print their official statement of continuing education credit immediately. The estimated time to complete this activity is 1.5 hours. This activity is provided free of charge.
