Learning Objectives
After participating in this knowledge-based educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Summarize the clinical conditions and associated laboratory parameters under which transfusion therapy is indicated in patients.
- List and discuss the various blood components, including clinical indications for their use, monitoring parameters, and advantages and disadvantages.
- Describe current strategies and therapeutic alternatives or adjuncts to transfusion therapy, including rationale and clinical evidence, settings in which these strategies and agents are used, and potential advantages and disadvantages of each.

The program provides 1.5 hours (0.15 CEUs) of continuing education credit
