Learning Objectives
After participating in this knowledge-based educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Summarize the clinical conditions and associated laboratory parameters under which transfusion therapy is indicated in patients.
- List and discuss the various blood components, including clinical indications for their use, monitoring parameters, and advantages and disadvantages.
- Describe current strategies and therapeutic alternatives or adjuncts to transfusion therapy, including rationale and clinical evidence, settings in which these strategies and agents are used, and potential advantages and disadvantages of each.

American Society of Health System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
The program provides 1.5 hours (0.15 CEUs) of continuing education credit

Upon successful completion of the online program, and successful completion of the online CE post-test and evaluation, participants may print their official ASHP CE statements. This program is available for continuing education credit from January 31, 2008 through February 28, 2010.

for physicians. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists designates
