Target Audience
This introductory continuing education activity was planned to meet the needs of practitioners, scientists, educators, administrators, and others committed to excellence in clinical pharmacy and patient pharmacotherapy. The program is beneficial for those who treat, instruct, or otherwise participate in the care of patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Program Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology of acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
- Differentiate between non-ST-segment elevation (NSTE) ACS and ST-segment elevation (STE) ACS.
- Describe the mechanism of action of anticoagulants in ACS therapy.
- List common adverse effects and monitoring needs of anticoagulant ACS therapy.
- Review initial clinical evidence of anticoagulants used in the management of ACS.
Continuing Education Accreditation
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 1.0 hour (0.10 CEU) of continuing education credit (program number 204-000-07-403-H01). Upon successful completion of the online CE post-test, participants may print their official ASHP CE statement. This program is available for continuing education credit from March 19, 2007 to April 18, 2009.
